The 2007 ASID Awards Gala "Green with Envy: Sustainability Meets Style" is a fashion forward welcome to the world of sustainable design - literally. Unique compared to past Gala Events, ASID will be hosting a fashion show as a prelude to the awards presentation, embracing the talents and knowledge of local fashion designers, sustainable fabric manufacturers and local "green" representatives. Fashion designers such as Shanel Reiger and Areka (representing Fashion Ninja) have been paired up with sustainable fabrics to create garments that will be modeled by select green representatives and members of ASID Wisconsin. Connie Lindholm, Executive Director for the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance www.wgba.org/artman/publish/cat_index_1.shtml will be modeling a double breasted 2-piece suit designed by Jessica Steeber using Kravet Couture and Highland Court fabrics. Susan Buchanan, Executive Director for WasteCAP Wisconsin www.wastecapwi.org/about.htm will be modeling an equestrian styled 2 piece outfit designed by Jamie O'Gallagher featuring Luna Textiles. Anne Beier, City of Milwaukee's Environmental Sustainability Director www.city.milwaukee.gov/display/router.asp?docid=13213 will be modeling a sleek a-line cocktail dress designed by Wendy Schaffer, ASID composed of fabrics by Knoll Textiles. Various other designs will be modeled by select members of ASID - Wisconsin Chapter. The award-winning commercial and residential interior spaces presentation will follow the fashion show, where an introduction of the new sustainable project category will be recognized. Food, music and libations will be enjoyed by all. ASID Wisconsin is ecstatic to be uniting these design forces together with "green" community leaders in efforts to remind all to design with sustainability in mind. Cost:
