Marty Gurian, director of technical services for Designtex, presented a two hour CEU on Monday, August 1st at the new offices of Hallmark Building Supply in Waukesha. There were over 80 Wisconsin designers in attendance from all around the state.
The presentation focused on high performance textiles and their usage. Some of the products and finishes Marty focused on included: Woven Crypton™, GORE™ Seating Protection, C-1™/C-1.5™ Protective Finishes from Designtex, NANO-TEX™ Resists Spills and high performance vinyls and urethanes. He explained the methods of evaluation for high performance fabrics and the criteria to specify the correct product for the application. He also reviewed cleaning methods and stressed the importance of proper, regular maintenance.
Marty then went on to introduce the new fabric classification "Sustainable Performance."
These are new products developed by Marty for Designtex that offer high performance with sustainable implications such as complete recyclability, reclamation, or compost-ability. These products will be introduced in the fall.
All attendees left the presentation with the Designtex High Performance Solutions Calculator, a tool to help designers specify products that meet cleaning and performance requirements on their projects.
The CEU number for this course is 4829.
