Description
This is a studio oriented position at the introductory and intermediate levels and will also require some service in the department and school. The successful candidate will teach Interior Design I: Introductory Interior Design Studio (2 sections) in the spring semester, and Interior Design II: Residential Design (2 sections) in the fall semester. The assignment also includes teaching Design Fundamentals II: Three-Dimensional Design during both spring and fall semesters.
A unique aspect of the way we teach interior design studios is the integration of subject area content and studio projects. Interior Design I and II both include lecture time. Instructors use this time to cover applicable subject area topics such as materials, finishes, lighting, acoustics, and other topics normally associated with subject area courses. For service, the successful candidate will be expected to serve on school committees, help maintain program accreditation, and help the program maintain connections with the local and regional design communities
Qualifications
A minimum of a Master’s degree in Interior Design or related discipline is required. Also required is previous interior design studio teaching experience at the college level. Professional (practice) experience and NCIDQ certification are highly desirable. Active involvement in relevant professional and educational organizations is also preferred.
